Doctors Visited the 2012 RNC

The 2012 Republican National Convention is over. By now, you’ve probably heard all the speeches, and read many news articles about the event. What you may not have heard is that groups of doctors visited the convention in an effort to get messages regarding healthcare, and health insurance, to the delegates. The Republican National Convention was where the Republican Party officially named Mitt Romney as their candidate for the 2012 Presidential election. This means that his running mate, Paul Ryan, is the official Republican candidate for Vice President in the election. Somehow, the thing that is being talked about the … Continue reading

Mall Pet Stores: The Beginning of The End

I’ve been following the story of the move some cities in California made to ban all pet stores that actually sold animals. This was made in an attempt to curb the sale of dogs and cats sourced from puppy mills and kitten factories. I talked about how, as a teenager, one of the only stores I ever liked stopping at in the mall was the pet store. I wondered where that pet store got its animals. The era of pet stores in malls might be coming to an end. California-based company Macerich, which owns shopping malls all across the country, … Continue reading

Romney Doesn’t Want Insurers to Cover Pre-Existing Conditions

Mitt Romney has some rather controversial ideas about health insurance. He is strongly opposed to the idea of health insurance companies being banned from refusing to cover people with pre-existing conditions. This is one of the most popular parts of the Affordable Care Act. It is no secret that Mitt Romney wants to repeal, or replace, the entire Affordable Care Act. This is pretty much the same concept that most, if not all, Republicans are shouting about this political season. It is a bit odd to hear Mitt Romney talk about how much he wants to get rid of the … Continue reading

The Best Answer I Can Get For Now

Recently, I got approved for what I believe might actually be an affordable health insurance policy. My insurance broker did a great job of helping me to find one, and to apply for it. I’m still trying to find out what the premiums will cost, but, I’ve been given the best answer that I can get for right now. I highly recommend using an insurance broker to help you find a good, affordable, health insurance policy. My broker was able to answer all my questions about health insurance in general, and about the plans that she gave me quotes on. … Continue reading

Beware of Junk Health Insurance!

Consumer Reports has an article that appears in the March 2012 print edition of their magazine. The article describes, in great detail, the inadequacies of the coverage provided by mini-med health insurance plans. It also gives consumers tips about how to identify, and avoid, junk health insurance. A mini-med health insurance plan is a great example of what the health reform laws are trying to protect Americans from. This type of health insurance is typically offered to employees who work for large corporations (such as McDonalds). This insurance will cover up to $2,000 of expenses in a given year, for … Continue reading

Another Mysterious Call from an Insurer

Once again, a representative from an insurance company has called me, and left a message that didn’t give me any clue as to what the call was about. This is especially confusing because the call came from the insurance company that we recently canceled a policy with. What on earth was this about? Recently, my husband and I canceled our health insurance policy. After doing some research about what it cost, and learning about the many things that it did not cover, it turned out that it was just too expensive for us to afford. Canceling a policy involves a … Continue reading

The Insurance Company Called

My husband and I are among the many Americans that are trying to find affordable health insurance. About a week and a half ago, he filled out the application form online. Today, the insurance company called us. Few things are more stressful than an unexpected call from a potential insurer. My husband spent around two hours filling out the online application form for health insurance. It was tedious. It asked what seemed like a million questions about his health, and then asked the same ones about my health. Then it asked me a bunch of questions that relate to women’s … Continue reading

Applying Online for Health Insurance

My husband and I are trying, once again, to find affordable health insurance coverage. Last night, he spent around two hours filling out a lengthy and detailed application form for both of us. The whole process, from start to finish, was tedious. Hopefully, it will result in health insurance coverage. The last time we made a serious attempt to get health insurance, it was through State Farm. We selected State Farm because it is the company that we have our life insurance policies, and our auto insurance policy, through. Unfortunately, the health insurance premiums offered by State Farm were too … Continue reading

Trying Once Again to Get Health Insurance

My husband and I have been trying to find affordable health insurance. It is completely frustrating! There were several months when we gave up even trying to get it. Recently, we started again. The struggle continues! This all started when I lost my job in 2009. I had health insurance from this job that covered both myself and my husband. In the blink of an eye, that was gone. Our first attempt to find health insurance coverage was through COBRA. This was supposed to allow us to extend the health insurance coverage that I’d lost. Unfortunately, the cost of COBRA … Continue reading
